brahmaá¹s te 'nugrahÄrthÄya
samprÄptÄn viddhy amÅ«n munÄ«n
sañcaranti mayÄ lokÄn
punantaḥ pÄda-reṇubhiḥ

 Å›rÄ«-bhagavÄn uvÄca - the Supreme Lord said; brahman - O brÄhmaṇa; te - your; anugraha - of bestowing benedictions; arthÄya - for the purpose; samprÄptÄn - come; viddhi - you should know; amÅ«n - these; munÄ«n - sages; sañcaranti - they wander; mayÄ - together with Me; lokÄn - all the worlds; punantaḥ - purifying; pÄda - of their feet; reṇubhiḥ - with the dust.


Text

The Supreme Lord said: My dear brÄhmaṇa, you should know that these great sages have come here just to bless you. They travel throughout the worlds with Me, purifying them with the dust of their feet.

Purport

ÅšrÄ«la ÅšrÄ«dhara SvÄmÄ« explains that Lord Kṛṣṇa thought Åšrutadeva had shown too much reverence to Him and not enough to the sages, and thus He turned the brÄhmaṇa’s attention to them.
