pÄ«tvÄ - having drunk; amá¹›tam - nectarean; payaḥ - milk; tasyÄḥ - her; pÄ«ta - of what had been drunk; Å›eá¹£am - the remnants; gadÄ-bhá¹›taḥ - of Kṛṣṇa, the wielder of the club; nÄrÄyaṇa - of the Supreme Lord, NÄrÄyaṇa (Kṛṣṇa); aá¹…ga - of the body; saá¹sparÅ›a - by the touch; pratilabdha - regained; Ätma - of their original selves (as demigods); darÅ›anÄḥ - the perception; te - they; namaská¹›tya - bowing down; govindam - to Lord Kṛṣṇa; devakÄ«m - to DevakÄ«; pitaram - to their father; balam - and to Lord BalarÄma; miá¹£atÄm - as they looked on; sarva - all; bhÅ«tÄnÄm - the people; yayuḥ - they went; dhÄma - to the abode; diva-okasÄm - of the demigods.
By drinking her nectarean milk, the remnants of what Kṛṣṇa Himself had previously drunk, the six sons touched the transcendental body of the Lord, NÄrÄyaṇa, and this contact awakened them to their original identities. They bowed down to Govinda, DevakÄ«, their father and BalarÄma, and then, as everyone looked on, they left for the abode of the demigods.
Lord Kṛṣṇa remained as an infant with DevakÄ« and Vasudeva for only a very short time. First the Lord appeared before them in His four-armed Viṣṇu form, and after hearing their prayers He changed Himself into an apparently ordinary infant for their pleasure. But to save Kṛṣṇa from suffering His brothers’ fate, Vasudeva at once removed Him from Kaá¹sa’s prison. Just before Vasudeva took Him away, Mother DevakÄ« suckled Kṛṣṇa once so that He would not feel thirsty during the long trip to Nanda-vraja. This we learn from the commentary of ÅšrÄ«la ViÅ›vanÄtha CakravartÄ« ṬhÄkura.
