Äsan marÄ«ceḥ á¹£aá¹­ putrÄ
Å«rṇÄyÄá¹ prathame 'ntare
devÄḥ kaá¹ jahasur vÄ«ká¹£ya
sutaá¹ yabhitum udyatam

 Å›rÄ«-bhagavÄn uvÄca - the Supreme Lord said; Äsan - there were; marÄ«ceḥ - of MarÄ«ci; á¹£aá¹­ - six; putrÄḥ - sons; Å«rṇÄyÄm - born of Ūrá¹‡Ä (his wife); prathame - in the first; antare - rule of Manu; devÄḥ - demigods; kam - at Lord BrahmÄ; jahasuḥ - they laughed; vÄ«ká¹£ya - seeing; sutÄm - with his daughter (SarasvatÄ«); yabhitum - to copulate; udyatam - prepared.

The Supreme Lord said: During the age of the first Manu, the sage MarÄ«ci had six sons by his wife ŪrnÄ. They were all exalted demigods, but once they laughed at Lord BrahmÄ when they saw him preparing to have sex with his own daughter.
