amba mÄsmÄn asÅ«yethÄ
daiva-krÄ«á¸anakÄn narÄn
īśasya hi vaśe lokaḥ
kurute kÄryate 'tha vÄ

 Å›rÄ«-vasudevaḥ uvÄca - ÅšrÄ« Vasudeva said; amba - my dear sister;  - please do not; asmÄn - with us; asÅ«yethÄḥ - be angry; daiva - of fate; krÄ«á¸anakÄn - the playthings; narÄn - men; Ä«Å›asya - of the Supreme Lord; hi - indeed; vaÅ›e - under the control; lokaḥ - a person; kurute - acts on his own; kÄryate - is made to act by others; atha vÄ - or else.

Śrī Vasudeva said: Dear sister, please do not be angry with us. We are only ordinary men, playthings of fate. Indeed, whether a person acts on his own or is forced by others, he is always under the Supreme Lord’s control.
