jahÄsa - laughed; bhÄ«maḥ - BhÄ«ma; tam - him; dṛṣá¹vÄ - seeing; striyaḥ - the women; ná¹›-patayaḥ - kings; apare - and others; nivÄryamÄṇÄḥ - being checked; api - even though; aá¹…ga - my dear (ParÄ«ká¹£it); rÄjÃ±Ä - by the King (Yudhiá¹£á¹hira); kṛṣṇa - by Lord Kṛṣṇa; anumoditÄḥ - approved.
My dear ParÄ«ká¹£it, BhÄ«ma laughed to see this, and so did the women, kings and others. King Yudhiá¹£á¹hira tried to stop them, but Lord Kṛṣṇa showed His approval.
ÅšrÄ«la ViÅ›vanÄtha CakravartÄ« mentions that King Yudhiá¹£á¹hira tried to check the laughter by glancing at the women and BhÄ«ma. Lord Kṛṣṇa, however, gave approval with a gesture of His eyebrows. The Lord had come to the earth to remove the burden of wicked kings, and this incident was not unrelated to the Lord’s purpose.
