atha nÄrÄyaṇaḥ devaḥ
taá¹ dṛṣṭvÄ vyasá¹›jaj jvaram
mÄheÅ›varo vaiṣṇavaÅ› ca
yuyudhÄte jvarÄv ubhau

 atha - thereupon; nÄrÄyaṇaḥ devaḥ - Lord NÄrÄyaṇa (Kṛṣṇa); tam - him (the Åšiva-jvara); dṛṣṭvÄ - seeing; vyasá¹›jat - released; jvaram - His personified fever (of extreme cold, as opposed to the extreme heat of the Åšiva-jvara); mÄheÅ›varaḥ - of Lord MÄheÅ›vara; vaiṣṇavaḥ - of Lord Viṣṇu; ca - and; yuyudhÄte - fought; jvarau - the two fevers; ubhau - against each other.


Text

Seeing this personified weapon approach, Lord NÄrÄyaṇa then released His own personified fever weapon, the Viṣṇu-jvara. The Åšiva-jvara and Viṣṇu-jvara thus battled each other.
