vyÄdÄya keÅ›ÄmÅ› caraṇau bhujÄv api
prasÄrya goá¹£á¹he nija-rÅ«pam ÄsthitÄ
vajrÄhato vá¹›tra ivÄpatan ná¹›pa
niÅ›Ä-carÄ« - the RÄká¹£asÄ«; ittham - in this way; vyathita-stanÄ - being severely aggrieved because of pressure on her breast; vyasuḥ - lost her life; vyÄdÄya - opening her mouth wide; keÅ›Än - bunch of hairs; caraṇau - her two legs; bhujau - her two hands; api - also; prasÄrya - expanding; goá¹£á¹he - in the pasturing ground; nija-rÅ«pam ÄsthitÄ - remained in her original demoniac form; vajra-Ähataḥ - killed by the thunderbolt of Indra; vá¹›traḥ - Vá¹›trÄsura; iva - as if; apatat - fell down; ná¹›pa - O King.
PÅ«tanÄ was a great RÄká¹£asÄ« who knew the art of covering her original form by mystic power, but when she was killed her mystic power could not hide her, and she appeared in her original form.
