 hanyamÄna - being killed; bala-anÄ«kÄḥ - whose armies; vṛṣṇibhiḥ - by the Vṛṣṇis; jaya - for victory; kÄá¹…ká¹£ibhiḥ - who were eager; rÄjÄnaḥ - the kings; vimukhÄḥ - discouraged; jagmuḥ - left; jarÄsandha-puraḥ-sarÄḥ - headed by JarÄsandha.

Seeing their armies being struck down by the Vṛṣṇis, who were eager for victory, the kings headed by JarÄsandha were discouraged and left the battlefield.

Although Sisupala had not married Rukmini, he passionately considered her his property, and thus he was devastated, like a man who has lost his beloved wife.
