akrÅ«raḥ uvÄca - AkrÅ«ra said; bhoḥ bhoḥ - O my dear, my dear; vaicitravÄ«rya - son of VicitravÄ«rya; tvam - you; kurūṇÄm - of the Kurus; kÄ«rti - the glory; vardhana - O you who increase; bhrÄtari - your brother; uparate - having passed away; pÄṇá¸au - MahÄrÄja PÄṇá¸u; adhunÄ - now; Äsanam - the throne; Ästhitaḥ - have assumed.
AkrÅ«ra was speaking ironically, since the young sons of PÄṇá¸u should actually have been occupying the throne. Upon the death of PÄṇá¸u, they were too young to immediately govern and so were put in Dhá¹›tarÄá¹£á¹ra’s care, but now sufficient time had passed, and their legitimate rights should have been recognized.
