tam Ägataá¹ samÄgamya
kṛṣṇasyÄnucaraá¹ priyam
nandaḥ prītaḥ pariṣvajya
vÄsudeva-dhiyÄrcayat
tam - him (Uddhava); Ägatam - arrived; samÄgamya - approaching; kṛṣṇasya - of Kṛṣṇa; anucaram - the follower; priyam - dear; nandaḥ - Nanda MahÄrÄja; prÄ«taḥ - happy; pariá¹£vajya - embracing; vÄsudeva-dhiyÄ - thinking of Lord VÄsudeva; Ärcayat - worshiped.
Uddhava looked just like Nanda’s son Kṛṣṇa and gave pleasure to anyone who saw him. Thus although Nanda was absorbed in thoughts of separation from Kṛṣṇa, when he saw Uddhava coming toward his house, he became aware of external events and eagerly went out to embrace his exalted visitor.
