janÄḥ prajahṛṣuḥ sarve
karmaá¹‡Ä rÄma-kṛṣṇayoḥ
á¹›te kaá¹saá¹ vipra-mukhyÄḥ
sÄdhavaḥ sÄdhu sÄdhv iti
janÄḥ - the people; prajahṛṣuḥ - rejoiced; sarve - all; karmaá¹‡Ä - at the deed; rÄma-kṛṣṇayoḥ - of BalarÄma and Kṛṣṇa; á¹›te - except; kaá¹sam - Kaá¹sa; vipra - of the brÄhmaṇas; mukhyÄḥ - the best; sÄdhavaḥ - the saintly persons; sÄdhu sÄdhu iti - (exclaimed) 'Excellent! Excellent!'
Everyone except Kaá¹sa rejoiced at the wonderful feat Kṛṣṇa and BalarÄma had performed. The exalted brÄhmaṇas and great saints exclaimed, “Excellent! Excellent!â€
It is understood that as the best of the brÄhmaṇas and saints were exclaiming “Excellent! Excellent!†the worst of the brÄhmaṇas, namely Kaá¹sa’s priests, were seriously grieving.
