evaá¹ striyÄ yÄcyamÄnaḥ
kṛṣṇo rÄmasya paÅ›yataḥ
mukhaá¹ vÄ«ká¹£yÄnu gopÄnÄá¹
prahasaá¹s tÄm uvÄca ha

 evam - in this way; striyÄ - by the woman; yÄcya nÄnaḥ - being begged; kṛṣṇaḥ - Lord Kṛṣṇa; rÄmasya - of BalarÄma; paÅ›yataḥ - who was looking on; mukham - at the face; vÄ«ká¹£ya - glancing; anu - then; gopÄnÄm - of the cowherd boys; prahasan - laughing; tÄm - to her; uvÄca ha - He said.

Thus entreated by the woman, Lord Kṛṣṇa first glanced at the face of BalarÄma, who was watching the incident, and then at the faces of the cowherd boys. Then with a laugh Kṛṣṇa replied to her as follows.
