tam Äpatantaá¹ sa nigá¹›hya śṛṅgayoḥ
padÄ samÄkramya nipÄtya bhÅ«-tale
niá¹£pÄ«á¸ayÄm Äsa yathÄrdram ambaraá¹
ká¹›tvÄ viá¹£Äṇena jaghÄna so 'patat

 tam - him; Äpatantam - attacking; saḥ - He; nigá¹›hya - seizing; Å›á¹›á¹…gayoḥ - by the horns; padÄ - with His foot; samÄkramya - treading; nipÄtya - making him fall; bhÅ«-tale - onto the ground; niá¹£pÄ«á¸ayÄm Äsa - He beat him; yathÄ - like; ardram - wet; ambaram - a garment; ká¹›tvÄ - making; viá¹£Äṇena - with his horn; jaghÄna - struck; saḥ - he; apatat - fell.


Text

As Ariṣṭa attacked, Lord Kṛṣṇa seized him by the horns and knocked him to the ground with His foot. The Lord then thrashed him as if he were a wet cloth, and finally He yanked out one of the demon’s horns and struck him with it until he lay prostrate.
