vidyotamÄnÄḥ - being illuminated; vidyudbhiḥ - by bolts of lightning; stanantaḥ - roaring; stanayitnubhiḥ - with thunder; tÄ«vraiḥ - fearsome; marut-gaṇaiḥ - by the wind-gods; nunnÄḥ - propelled; vavṛṣuḥ - they poured down; jala-Å›arkarÄḥ - hailstones.
Propelled by the fearsome wind-gods, the clouds blazed with lightning bolts and roared with thunder as they hurled down hailstones.
ÅšrÄ«la ÅšrÄ«dhara SvÄmÄ« explains that the word marud-gaṇaiḥ indicates the seven great winds, such as Ä€vaha, who presides over the region of Bhuvarloka, and Pravaha, who holds the planets in their places.
