 suparṇa - of Garuá¸a; paká¹£a - by the wing; abhihataḥ - beaten; kÄliyaḥ - KÄliya; atÄ«va - extremely; vihvalaḥ - distraught; hradam - a lake; viveÅ›a - he entered; kÄlindyÄḥ - of the river YamunÄ; tat-agamyam - unapproachable by Garuá¸a; durÄsadam - difficult to enter.

Beaten by Garuá¸a’s wing, KÄliya was extremely distraught, and thus he took shelter of a lake adjoining the river YamunÄ. Garuá¸a could not enter this lake. Indeed, he could not even approach it.
