The Bhaá¹á¹ÄcÄrya explained the ÄtmÄrÄma verse in nine different ways on the basis of scripture. After hearing his explanation, ÅšrÄ« Caitanya MahÄprabhu, smiling a little, began to speak.

Purport

The ÄtmÄrÄma verse was discussed at Naimiá¹£Äraṇya at a meeting of many great sages, headed by Åšaunaka Ṛṣi. They questioned ÅšrÄ«la SÅ«ta GosvÄmÄ«, who presided at the meeting, about why ÅšrÄ«la Åšukadeva GosvÄmÄ«, a paramahaá¹sa already in the transcendental position, was attracted to a discussion of the qualities of Kṛṣṇa. In other words, they wanted to know why ÅšrÄ« Åšukadeva GosvÄmÄ« engaged in the study of ÅšrÄ«mad-BhÄgavatam.
