kṛṣṇa-varṇaá¹ tviá¹£Äkṛṣṇaá¹
sÄá¹…gopÄá¹…gÄstra-pÄrá¹£adam
yajñaiḥ saá¹…kÄ«rtana-prÄyair
yajanti hi su-medhasaḥ

 kṛṣṇa-varṇam - chanting the two syllables kṛṣ and ṇa; tviá¹£Ä - by complexion; akṛṣṇam - not blackish; sa-aá¹…ga - accompanied by personal expansions; upa-aá¹…ga - devotees; astra - the weapon of chanting the Hare Kṛṣṇa mantra; pÄrá¹£adam - and associates like GadÄdhara, SvarÅ«pa DÄmodara, etc.; yajñaiḥ - by sacrifice; saá¹…kÄ«rtana - congregational chanting of the Hare Kṛṣṇa mantra; prÄyaiḥ - chiefly consisting of; yajanti - worship; hi - indeed; su-medhasaḥ - those who are intelligent.

“ ‘In this Age of Kali, those who are intelligent perform the congregational chanting of the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahÄ-mantra, worshiping the Supreme Personality of Godhead, who appears in this age always describing the glories of Kṛṣṇa. That incarnation is yellowish in hue and is always associated with His plenary expansions [such as ÅšrÄ« NityÄnanda Prabhu] and personal expansions [such as GadÄdhara], as well as His devotees and associates [such as SvarÅ«pa DÄmodara].’

This verse from ÅšrÄ«mad-BhÄgavatam (11.5.32) is explained by ÅšrÄ« JÄ«va GosvÄmÄ« in his Krama-sandarbha, as quoted by ÅšrÄ«la Bhaktivinoda ṬhÄkura in regard to the explanation of Ä€di-lÄ«lÄ, third chapter, verse 52.
