mÄdhavendra-purÄ«ra - of MÄdhavendra PurÄ«; iá¹…ho - Advaita Ä€cÄrya; Å›iá¹£ya - disciple; ei jñÄne - by this consideration; ÄcÄrya-gosÄñire - unto Advaita Ä€cÄrya; prabhu - ÅšrÄ« Caitanya MahÄprabhu; guru - spiritual master; kari' - taking as; mÄne - obeys Him.
ÅšrÄ« MÄdhavendra PurÄ« is one of the ÄcÄryas in the disciplic succession from MadhvÄcÄrya. MÄdhavendra PurÄ« had two principal disciples, Īśvara PurÄ« and ÅšrÄ« Advaita Prabhu. Therefore the Gauá¸Ä«ya Vaiṣṇava-sampradÄya is a disciplic succession from MadhvÄcÄrya. This fact has been accepted in the authorized books known as Gaura-gaṇoddeÅ›a-dÄ«pikÄ and Prameya-ratnÄvalÄ«, as well as by GopÄla Guru GosvÄmÄ«. The Gaura-gaṇoddeÅ›a-dÄ«pikÄ (22) clearly states the disciplic succession of the Gauá¸Ä«ya Vaiṣṇavas as follows: “Lord BrahmÄ is the direct disciple of Viṣṇu, the Lord of the spiritual sky. His disciple is NÄrada, NÄrada’s disciple is VyÄsa, and VyÄsa’s disciples are Åšukadeva GosvÄmÄ« and MadhvÄcÄrya. PadmanÄbha Ä€cÄrya is the disciple of MadhvÄcÄrya, and Narahari is the disciple of PadmanÄbha Ä€cÄrya. MÄdhava is the disciple of Narahari, Aká¹£obhya is the direct disciple of MÄdhava, and JayatÄ«rtha is the disciple of Aká¹£obhya. JayatÄ«rtha’s disciple is JñÄnasindhu, and his disciple is MahÄnidhi. VidyÄnidhi is the disciple of MahÄnidhi, and RÄjendra is the disciple of VidyÄnidhi. Jayadharma is the disciple of RÄjendra. Puruá¹£ottama is the disciple of Jayadharma. ÅšrÄ«mÄn Laká¹£mÄ«pati is the disciple of VyÄsatÄ«rtha, who is the disciple of Puruá¹£ottama. And MÄdhavendra PurÄ« is the disciple of Laká¹£mÄ«pati.â€
