Purport

Among the sannyÄsÄ«s of the Åšaá¹…kara-sampradÄya there are different names for brahmacÄrÄ«s. Each sannyÄsÄ« has some assistants, known as brahmacÄrÄ«s, who are called by different names according to the names of the sannyÄsÄ«. Among such brahmacÄrÄ«s there are four names: SvarÅ«pa, Ä€nanda, PrakÄÅ›a and Caitanya. NityÄnanda Prabhu maintained Himself as a brahmacÄrÄ«; He never took sannyÄsa. As a brahmacÄrÄ« His name was NityÄnanda SvarÅ«pa, and therefore the sannyÄsÄ« under whom He was living must have been from the tÄ«rthas or ÄÅ›ramas of the Åšaá¹…kara-sampradÄya, because one of the names for the assistant brahmacÄrÄ« of such a sannyÄsÄ« is SvarÅ«pa.
