Some say that Kṛṣṇa is the incarnation of KṣīrodakaÅ›ÄyÄ« Viṣṇu. None of these statements is impossible; each is as correct as the others.

Purport

The Laghu-bhÄgavatÄmá¹›ta (5.383) states:

ata evÄ purÄṇÄdau kecin nara-sakhÄtmatÄm
mahendrÄnujatÄá¹ kecit kecit kṣīrÄbdhi-Å›ÄyitÄm
sahasra-śīrá¹£atÄá¹ kecit kecid vaikuṇṭha-nÄthatÄm
brÅ«yuḥ kṛṣṇasya munayas tat-tad-vá¹›tty-anugÄminaḥ

“According to the intimate relationships between ÅšrÄ« Kṛṣṇa, the primeval Lord, and His devotees, the PurÄṇas describe Him by various names. Sometimes He is called NÄrÄyaṇa; sometimes Upendra (VÄmana), the younger brother of Indra, King of heaven; and sometimes KṣīrodakaÅ›ÄyÄ« Viṣṇu. Sometimes He is called the thousand-hooded Åšeá¹£a NÄga, and sometimes the Lord of Vaikuṇṭha.â€
