तस्यैवं वितथे वंशे तदर्थं यजतः सुतम् ।
मरुत्स्तोमेन मरुतो भरद्वाजमुपाददुः ॥३५॥

 tasya - his (MahÄrÄja Bharata's); evam - thus; vitathe - being baffled; vamÅ›e - in generating progeny; tat-artham - to get sons; yajataḥ - performing sacrifices; sutam - a son; marut-stomena - by performing a marut-stoma sacrifice; marutaḥ - the demigods named the Maruts; bharadvÄjam - BharadvÄja; upÄdaduḥ - presented.

The King, his attempt for progeny frustrated in this way, performed a sacrifice named marut-stoma to get a son. The demigods known as the Maruts, being fully satisfied with him, then presented him a son named BharadvÄja.
