प्रादात्स्वन्नं च विप्रेभ्यः प्रजातीर्थे स तीर्थवित् ॥१४॥
hiraṇyaá¹ gÄá¹ mahÄ«á¹ grÄmÄn
hasty-aÅ›vÄn ná¹›patir varÄn
prÄdÄt svannaá¹ ca viprebhyaḥ
prajÄ-tÄ«rthe sa tÄ«rthavit
On the auspicious occasion of the birth, the best of kings, knowing the proper time to give charity, gave the brÄhmaṇas gold, cows, land, villages, elephants, horses, and the best food.
Praja-tirthe means “at the auspicious time of a son’s birth.†Putre jate vyatipate dattam bhavati caksayam: what is given at the birth of a son or during calamity has indestructible results.
