The pure soul is pure consciousness and is never out of consciousness, either due to circumstances, time, situations, dreams or other causes. How then does he become engaged in nescience? Further Inquires by Vidura |
| SB 3.7.5 |
The Lord continued: My dear Dakᚣa Dvija, I am the original Personality of Godhead, but in order to create, maintain and annihilate this cosmic manifestation, I act through My material energy, and according to the different grades of activity, My representations are differently named. The Sacrifice Performed by Daksha |
| SB 4.7.51 |
Lord Ĺiva continued: Any person who is surrendered to the Supreme Personality of Godhead, KášášŁáša, the controller of everything â material nature as well as the living entity â is actually very dear to me. Chanting the Song Sung by Lord Siva |
| SB 4.24.28 |
My dear Lord, after creating by Your own potencies, You enter within the creation in four kinds of forms. Being within the hearts of the living entities, You know them and know how they are enjoying their senses. The so-called happiness of this material creation is exactly like the beesâ enjoyment of honey after it has been collected in the honeycomb. Chanting the Song Sung by Lord Siva |
| SB 4.24.64 |
In the cycle of material activities, the material body resembles the wheel of a mental chariot. The ten senses [five for working and five for gathering knowledge] and the five life airs within the body form the fifteen spokes of the chariotâs wheel. The three modes of nature [goodness, passion and ignorance] are its center of activities, and the eight ingredients of nature [earth, water, fire, air, sky, mind, intelligence and false ego] comprise the rim of the wheel. The external, material energy moves this wheel like electrical energy. Thus the wheel revolves very quickly around its hub or central support, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, who is the Supersoul and the ultimate truth. We offer our respectful obeisances unto Him. The Demigods Appeal to the Lord for Protection |
| SB 8.5.28 |
The body [the total body and the individual body are of the same composition] may figuratively be called âthe original tree.â From this tree, which fully depends on the ground of material nature, come two kinds of fruit â the enjoyment of happiness and the suffering of distress. The cause of the tree, forming its three roots, is association with the three modes of material nature â goodness, passion and ignorance. The fruits of bodily happiness have four tastes â religiosity, economic development, sense gratification and liberation â which are experienced through five senses for acquiring knowledge in the midst of six circumstances: lamentation, illusion, old age, death, hunger and thirst. The seven layers of bark covering the tree are skin, blood, muscle, fat, bone, marrow and semen, and the eight branches of the tree are the five gross and three subtle elements â earth, water, fire, air, ether, mind, intelligence and false ego. The tree of the body has nine hollows â the eyes, the ears, the nostrils, the mouth, the rectum and the genitals â and ten leaves, the ten airs passing through the body. In this tree of the body there are two birds: one is the individual soul, and the other is the Supersoul. Prayers by the Demigods for Lord Krishna in the Womb |
| SB 10.2.27 |
O intelligent lady, the soul never undergoes contact with or separation from insubstantial, material objects, because the soul is their very origin and illuminator. Thus the soul resembles the sun, which neither comes in contact with nor separates from the sense of sight and what is seen. The Marriage of Krishna and Rukmini |
| SB 10.54.46 |
ĹrÄŤ PippalÄyana said: The Supreme Personality of Godhead is the cause of the creation, maintenance and destruction of this universe, yet He has no prior cause. He pervades the various states of wakefulness, dreaming and unconscious deep sleep and also exists beyond them. By entering the body of every living being as the Supersoul, He enlivens the body, senses, life airs and mental activities, and thus all the subtle and gross organs of the body begin their functions. My dear King, know that Personality of Godhead to be the Supreme. Liberation from the Illusory Energy |
| SB 11.3.35 |
O most intelligent Uddhava, the living entity, called jÄŤva, is part and parcel of Me, but due to ignorance he has been suffering in material bondage since time immemorial. By knowledge, however, he can be liberated. The Symptoms of Conditioned and Liberated Living Entities |
| SB 11.11.4 |
âThe Lord is like a great blazing fire, and the living entities are like small sparks of that fire. Lord Caitanya in Five Features |
| CC 1.7.116 |
âThe living entities are energies, not the energetic. The energetic is KášášŁáša. This is very vividly described in the Bhagavad-gÄŤtÄ, the Viᚣášu PurÄáša and other Vedic literatures. Lord Caitanya in Five Features |
| CC 1.7.117 |
â âBesides these inferior energies, O mighty-armed Arjuna, there is another, superior energy of Mine, which comprises the living entities who are exploiting the resources of this material, inferior nature.â Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu Instructs Sanatana Gosvami in the Science of the Absolute Truth |
| CC 2.20.116 |
âTo impregnate with the seeds of the living entities, the Lord Himself does not directly touch the material energy, but by His specific functional expansion He touches the material energy, and thus the living entities, who are His parts and parcels, are impregnated into material nature. Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu Instructs Sanatana Gosvami in the Science of the Absolute Truth |
| CC 2.20.273 |
âExpansions of His personal self â like the quadruple manifestations of Saáš
karᚣaáša, Pradyumna, Aniruddha and VÄsudeva â descend as incarnations from Vaikuášášha to this material world. The separated expansions are the living entities. Although they are expansions of KášášŁáša, they are counted among His different potencies. The Process of Devotional Service |
| CC 2.22.9 |
Chapter 25: Personal and Impersonal Realization Teachings of Lord Caitanya |
| TLC 25 |
The same jÄŤva is eternal and is for eternity and without a beginning joined to the Supreme Lord by the tie of an eternal kinship. He is transcendental spiritual potency. |
| BS bs.21 |
One who always sees all living entities as spiritual sparks, in quality one with the Lord, becomes a true knower of things. What, then, can be illusion or anxiety for him? Sri Isopanishad |
