[The qualities of MahÄrÄja PrahlÄda, the son of HiraṇyakaÅ›ipu, are described herewith.] He was completely cultured as a qualified brÄhmaṇa, having very good character and being determined to understand the Absolute Truth. He had full control of his senses and mind. Like the Supersoul, he was kind to every living entity and was the best friend of everyone. To respectable persons he acted exactly like a menial servant, to the poor he was like a father, to his equals he was attached like a sympathetic brother, and he considered his teachers, spiritual masters and older Godbrothers to be as good as the Supreme Personality of Godhead. He was completely free from unnatural pride that might have arisen from his good education, riches, beauty, aristocracy and so on. Hiranyakasipu Terrorizes the Universe |
| SB 7.4.31-32 |
Here is a learned, highly qualified brÄhmaṇa, engaged in performing austerity and eagerly desiring to worship the Supreme Lord, the Supersoul who lives within the core of the heart in all living entities. The Dynasty of Amsuman |
| SB 9.9.29 |
All the brÄhmaṇas who were engaged in the various activities of the sacrifice were very pleased with Lord RÄmacandra, who was greatly affectionate and favorable to the brÄhmaṇas. Thus with melted hearts they returned all the property received from Him and spoke as follows. Lord Ramacandra Rules the World |
| SB 9.11.5 |
“ ‘One may be born in a brÄhmaṇa family and have all twelve brahminical qualities, but if he is not devoted to the lotus feet of Lord Kṛṣṇa, who has a navel shaped like a lotus, he is not as good as a caṇá¸Äla who has dedicated his mind, words, activities, wealth and life to the service of the Lord. Simply to take birth in a brÄhmaṇa family or to have brahminical qualities is not sufficient. One must become a pure devotee of the Lord. If a Å›va-paca or caṇá¸Äla is a devotee, he delivers not only himself but his whole family, whereas a brÄhmaṇa who is not a devotee but simply has brahminical qualifications cannot even purify himself, what to speak of his family.’ †Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu Instructs Sanatana Gosvami in the Science of the Absolute Truth |
| CC 2.20.59 |
“Your book should describe the characteristics of the bona fide guru and the bona fide disciple. Then, before accepting a spiritual master, one can be assured of the spiritual master’s position. Similarly, the spiritual master can also be assured of the disciple’s position. The Supreme Personality of Godhead, Kṛṣṇa, should be described as the worshipable object, and you should describe the bÄ«ja-mantra for the worship of Kṛṣṇa, as well as that for RÄma and for other expansions of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. The Sixty-One Explanations of the Atmarama Verse |
| CC 2.24.330 |
HaridÄsa ṬhÄkura replied, “Immediately go home and distribute to the brÄhmaṇas whatever property you have. Then come back to this room and stay here forever in Kṛṣṇa consciousness. The Glories of Srila Haridasa Thakura |
