evam -- in this way; nashteshu -- when they had been destroyed; sarveshu -- all; kuleshu -- the clans of the dynasty; sveshu -- His own; kesavah -- Lord Krishna; avataritah -- diminished; bhuvah -- of the earth; bharah -- the burden; iti -- thus; mene -- He thought; avaseshitah -- remaining.

When all the members of His own dynasty were thus destroyed, Lord Krishna thought to Himself that at last the burden of the earth had been removed.
