tasmān niyamya ṣaḍ-vargaḿ

mad-bhāvena caren muniḥ

viraktaḥ kṣudra-kāmebhyo

labdhvātmani sukhaḿ mahat

tasmat -- therefore; niyamya -- completely controlling; shat-vargam -- the six senses (sight, hearing, smell, touch, taste and the mind); mat-bhavena -- by consciousness of Me; caret -- should live; munih -- the sage; viraktah -- detached; kshudra -- insignificant; kamebhyah -- from sense gratification; labdhva -- having experienced; atmani -- in the self; sukham -- happiness; mahat -- great.

Therefore, completely controlling the five senses and the mind by Krishna consciousness, a sage, having experienced spiritual bliss within the self, should live detached from insignificant material sense gratification.
