sri badarayanih uvaca -- Sri Sukadeva Gosvami said; atha -- next; tarhi -- then; agatah -- came; goshtham -- to the cowherd village; arishtah -- named Arishta; vrishabha-asurah -- the bull demon; mahim -- the earth; maha -- great; kakut -- having a hump; kayah -- whose body; kampayan -- making tremble; khura -- by his hooves; vikshatam -- torn.

Sukadeva Goswami said: The demon Arishta then came to the cowherd village. Appearing in the form of a bull with a large hump, he made the earth tremble as he tore it apart with his hooves.

Significado

According to the Sri Vishnu Purana, Arishtasura entered Krishna's village at twilight, as the Lord prepared to dance with the gopis:

prodoshardhe kadacit tu

rasasakte janardane

trasayan sa-mado goshtham

arishtah sampagatah

"Once, midway through the period of dusk, when Lord Janardana was eager to perform the rasa dance, Arishtasura madly entered the cowherd village, terrifying everyone."
