ya enaḿ visṛjed dharmaḿ
paramparyāgataḿ naraḥ
kāmād dveṣād bhayāl lobhāt
sa vai nāpnoti śobhanam
yah -- anyone who; enam -- this; visrijet -- rejects; dharmam -- the religious principle; paramparya -- from traditional authority; agatam -- received; narah -- a person; kamat -- because of lust; dveshat -- because of enmity; bhayat -- because of fear; lobhat -- or because of greed; sah -- he; vai -- certainly; na apnoti -- cannot achieve; sobhanam -- auspiciousness.
If a person neglects his religious duties because of lust, envy, fear or greed, his life will never be brilliant or perfect.
