bhrātṛbhir bandhubhiḥ sutaiḥ

vicarantaḿ vṛtaḿ gopaiḥ

sāgrajaḿ dadṛśuḥ striyaḥ

nishidhyamanah -- being forbidden; patibhih -- by their husbands; bhratribhih -- by their brothers; bandhubhih -- by other relatives; sutaih -- and by their sons; bhagavati -- directed toward the Supreme Personality of Godhead; uttama-sloke -- who is praised with transcendental hymns; dirgha -- for a long time; sruta -- because of hearing; dhrita -- acquired; asayah -- whose expectations; yamuna-upavane -- in a garden along the river Yamuna; asoka-nava-pallava -- by the buds of the asoka trees; mandite -- decorated; vicarantam -- wandering; vritam -- surrounded; gopaih -- by the cowherd boys; sa-agrajam -- together with His elder brother; dadrisuh -- they saw; striyah -- the ladies.


Texto

Although their husbands, brothers, sons and other relatives tried to forbid them from going, their hope of seeing Krishna, cultivated by extensive hearing of His transcendental qualities, won out. Along the river Yamuna, within a garden decorated with buds of asoka trees, they caught sight of Him strolling along in the company of the cowherd boys and His elder brother, Balarama.
