करूषान्मानवादासन् कारूषाः क्षत्रजातयः ।
उत्तरापथगोप्तारो ब्रह्मण्या धर्मवत्सलाः ॥१६॥

 karūṣÄt - from Karūṣa; mÄnavÄt - from the son of Manu; Äsan - there was; kÄrūṣÄḥ - called the KÄrūṣas; ká¹£atra-jÄtayaḥ - a group of ká¹£atriyas; uttarÄ - northern; patha - of the direction; goptÄraḥ - kings; brahmaṇyÄḥ - celebrated protectors of the brahminical culture; dharma-vatsalÄḥ - extremely religious.

From Karūṣa, another son of Manu, came the KÄrūṣa dynasty, a family of ká¹£atriyas. The KÄrūṣa ká¹£atriyas were the kings of the northern direction. They were celebrated protectors of brahminical culture and were all firmly religious.
