munau - unto the great sage VÄlmÄ«ki; niká¹£ipya - giving in charge; tanayau - the two sons Lava and KuÅ›a; sÄ«tÄ - mother SÄ«tÄdevÄ«; bhartrÄ - by her husband; vivÄsitÄ - banished; dhyÄyantÄ« - meditating upon; rÄma-caraṇau - the lotus feet of Lord RÄmacandra; vivaram - within the earth; praviveÅ›a - she entered; ha - indeed.
It was impossible for SÄ«tÄdevÄ« to live in separation from Lord RÄmacandra. Therefore, after entrusting her two sons to the care of VÄlmÄ«ki Muni, she entered into the earth.
