अतीतप्रलयापाय उत्थिताय स वेधसे ।
हत्वासुरं हयग्रीवं वेदान् प्रत्याहरद्धरिः ॥५७॥

utthitÄya sa vedhase
hatvÄsuraá¹ hayagrÄ«vaá¹
vedÄn pratyÄharad dhariḥ

 atÄ«ta - passed; pralaya-apÄye - at the end of the inundation; utthitÄya - to bring him to his senses after sleeping; saḥ - the Supreme Lord; vedhase - unto Lord BrahmÄ; hatvÄ - after killing; asuram - the demon; hayagrÄ«vam - by the name HayagrÄ«va; vedÄn - all the Vedic records; pratyÄharat - delivered; hariḥ - the Supreme Personality of Godhead.

At the end of the last inundation [during the period of SvÄyambhuva Manu] the Supreme Personality of Godhead killed the demon named HayagrÄ«va and delivered all the Vedic literatures to Lord BrahmÄ when Lord BrahmÄ awakened from sleeping.
