ततस्ते विस्मिताः सर्वे विषण्णा ग्रस्ततेजसः ।
प्रत्यञ्चमादिपुरुषमुपतस्थुः समाहिताः ॥२०॥

tatas te vismitÄḥ sarve
viá¹£aá¹‡á¹‡Ä grasta-tejasaḥ
pratyañcam Ädi-puruá¹£am
upatasthuḥ samÄhitÄḥ

 tataḥ - thereafter; te - they (the demigods); vismitÄḥ - being struck with wonder; sarve - all; viá¹£aṇṇÄḥ - being very morose; grasta-tejasaḥ - having lost all their personal strength; pratyañcam - to the Supersoul; Ädi-puruá¹£am - the original person; upatasthuḥ - prayed; samÄhitÄḥ - all gathered together.

Struck with wonder and disappointment upon seeing the strength of the demon, the demigods lost their own strength. Therefore they all met together to try to please the Supersoul, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, NÄrÄyaṇa, by worshiping Him.
