श्रीऋषिरुवाच
अभ्यर्थितः सुरगणैः पौरहित्ये महातपाः ।
स विश्वरूपस्तानाह प्रसन्नः श्लक्ष्णया गिरा ॥३४॥

Å›rÄ«-ṛṣir uvÄca
abhyarthitaḥ sura-gaṇaiḥ
paurahitye mahÄ-tapÄḥ
sa viÅ›varÅ«pas tÄn Äha
prasannaḥ Å›lakṣṇayÄ girÄ

 Å›rÄ«-ṛṣiḥ uvÄca - Åšukadeva GosvÄmÄ« continued to speak; abhyarthitaḥ - being requested; sura-gaṇaiḥ - by the demigods; paurahitye - in accepting the priesthood; mahÄ-tapÄḥ - highly advanced in austerity and penances; saḥ - he; viÅ›varÅ«paḥ - ViÅ›varÅ«pa; tÄn - to the demigods; Äha - spoke; prasannaḥ - being satisfied; Å›lakṣṇayÄ - sweet; girÄ - with words.

Åšukadeva GosvÄmÄ« continued: When all the demigods requested the great ViÅ›varÅ«pa to be their priest, ViÅ›varÅ«pa, who was advanced in austerities, was very pleased. He replied to them as follows.
