 evam - thus; sandahyamÄnÄnÄm - of the queens, who were constantly burning in lamentation; sapatnyÄḥ - of the co-wife Ká¹›tadyuti; putra-sampadÄ - due to the opulence of a son; rÄjñaḥ - by the King; asammata-vá¹›ttÄ«nÄm - not being very much favored; vidveá¹£aḥ - envy; balavÄn - very strong; abhÅ«t - became.

ÅšrÄ« Åšukadeva GosvÄmÄ« continued: Being neglected by their husband and seeing Ká¹›tadyuti’s opulence in possessing a son, Ká¹›tadyuti’s co-wives always burned in envy, which became extremely strong.
