तयोः समभवल्लोभो निकृतिश्च महामते ।
ताभ्यां क्रोधश्च हिंसा च यद्दुरुक्तिः स्वसा कलिः ॥३॥

tayoḥ samabhaval lobho
niká¹›tiÅ› ca mahÄ-mate
tÄbhyÄá¹ krodhaÅ› ca hiá¹sÄ ca
yad duruktiḥ svasÄ kaliḥ

 tayoḥ - those two; samabhavat - were born; lobhaḥ - Greed; niká¹›tiḥ - Cunning; ca - and; mahÄ-mate - O great soul; tÄbhyÄm - from both of them; krodhaḥ - Anger; ca - and; hiá¹sÄ - Envy; ca - and; yat - from both of whom; duruktiḥ - Harsh Speech; svasÄ - sister; kaliḥ - Kali.

Maitreya told Vidura: O great soul, from Dambha and MÄyÄ were born Greed and Niká¹›ti, or Cunning. From their combination came children named Krodha [Anger] and Hiá¹sÄ [Envy], and from their combination were born Kali and his sister Durukti (Harsh Speech).
