pitá¹›hūḥ - of the name Pitá¹›hÅ«; ná¹›pa - O King; puryÄḥ - of the city; dvÄḥ - gate; daká¹£iṇena - on the southern side; purañjanaḥ - King Purañjana; rÄá¹£á¹ram - country; daká¹£iṇa - southern; pañcÄlam - of the name PañcÄla; yÄti - used to go; Å›ruta-dhara-anvitaḥ - along with his friend Åšrutadhara.
The right ear is used for karma-kÄṇá¸Ä«ya, or fruitive activities. As long as one is attached to the enjoyment of material resources, he hears from the right ear and uses the five senses to elevate himself to the higher planetary systems like Pitá¹›loka. Consequently, the right ear is here described as the Pitá¹›hÅ« gate.
