एतत्त आदिराजस्य मनोश्चरितमद्भुतम् ।
वर्णितं वर्णनीयस्य तदपत्योदयं शृणु ॥३९॥

varṇitaṠvarṇanīyasya
tad-apatyodayaṠśṛṇu

 etat - this; te - unto you; Ädi-rÄjasya - of the first emperor; manoḥ - of SvÄyambhuva Manu; caritam - the character; adbhutam - wonderful; varṇitam - described; varṇanÄ«yasya - whose reputation is worthy of description; tat-apatya - of his daughter; udayam - to the flourishing; Å›á¹›á¹‡u - please listen.

I have spoken to you of the wonderful character of SvÄyambhuva Manu, the original king, whose reputation is worthy of description. Please hear as I speak of the flourishing of his daughter DevahÅ«ti.
