dahyamÄnÄn mahoragÄn

takṣakaḥ śaraṇaṠyayau

 sarpa-satre - in the snake sacrifice; samiddha - blazing; agnau - in the fire; dahyamÄnÄn - being burned; mahÄ-uragÄn - the great serpents; dṛṣṭvÄ - seeing; indram - to Indra; bhaya - with fear; saá¹vignaḥ - very disturbed; taká¹£akaḥ - Taká¹£aka; Å›araṇam - for shelter; yayau - went.

When Taká¹£aka saw even the most powerful serpents being burned in the blazing fire of that snake sacrifice, he was overwhelmed with fear and approached Lord Indra for shelter.
