 yogi-indrÄya - to the king of mystics; namaḥ - obeisances; tasmai - to him; Å›ukaya - Åšukadeva GosvÄmÄ«; brahma-rÅ«piṇe - who is a personal manifestation of the Absolute Truth; saá¹sÄra-sarpa - by the snake of material existence; daṣṭam - bitten; yaḥ - who; viṣṇu-rÄtam - ParÄ«ká¹£it MahÄrÄja; amÅ«mucat - freed.

I offer my humble obeisances to ÅšrÄ« Åšukadeva GosvÄmÄ«, the best of mystic sages and a personal manifestation of the Absolute Truth. He saved MahÄrÄja ParÄ«ká¹£it, who was bitten by the snake of material existence.

Purport

SÅ«ta GosvÄmÄ« now offers obeisances to his own spiritual master, Åšukadeva GosvÄmÄ«. ÅšrÄ«la ViÅ›vanÄtha CakravartÄ« ṬhÄkura clarifies that just as Arjuna was placed into material confusion so that Bhagavad-gÄ«tÄ might be spoken, so King ParÄ«ká¹£it, a pure, liberated devotee of the Lord, was cursed to die so that ÅšrÄ«mad-BhÄgavatam might be spoken. Actually, King ParÄ«ká¹£it is viṣṇu-rÄta, eternally under the protection of the Lord. Åšukadeva GosvÄmÄ« liberated the king from his so-called illusion to exhibit the merciful nature of a pure devotee and the enlightening effect of his association.
