 prajÄḥ - their progeny; pupuá¹£atuḥ - they nourished; prÄ«tau - very pleased; dam-patÄ« - the couple; putra - to their children; vatsalau - compassionate; Å›á¹›á¹‡vantau - listening; kÅ«jitam - to the chirping; tÄsÄm - of their children; nirvá¹›tau - extremely happy; kala-bhÄá¹£itaiḥ - by the awkward sounds.

The two pigeons became most affectionate to their children and took great pleasure in listening to their awkward chirping, which sounded very sweet to the parents. Thus with love they began to raise the little birds who were born of them.
