ká¹£ipto 'vamÄnito 'sadbhiḥ
pralabdho 'sÅ«yito 'tha vÄ
tÄá¸itaḥ sanniruddho vÄ
vá¹›ttyÄ vÄ parihÄpitaḥ
niá¹£á¹hyuto mÅ«trito vÄjñair
bahudhaivaṠprakampitaḥ
Å›reyas-kÄmaḥ ká¹›cchra-gata
ÄtmanÄtmÄnam uddharet
ká¹£iptaḥ - insulted; avamÄnitaḥ - neglected; asadbhiḥ - by bad men; pralabdhaḥ - ridiculed; asÅ«yitaḥ - envied; atha vÄ - or else; tÄá¸itaḥ - chastised; sanniruddhaḥ - tied up; vÄ - or; vá¹›ttyÄ - of his means of livelihood; vÄ - or; parihÄpitaḥ - deprived; niá¹£á¹hyutaḥ - spat upon; mÅ«tritaḥ - polluted with urine; vÄ - or; ajñaiḥ - by foolish men; bahudhÄ - repeatedly; evam - thus; prakampitaḥ - agitated; Å›reyaḥ-kÄmaḥ - one who desires the highest goal in life; ká¹›cchra-gataḥ - experiencing difficulty; ÄtmanÄ - by his intelligence; ÄtmÄnam - himself; uddharet - should save.
Throughout history many of the above-mentioned inconveniences have been experienced by devotees of the Lord. One who is advanced in God consciousness does not allow himself to become obsessed with the material body even in such conditions, but rather keeps the mind fixed on the spiritual platform through proper intelligence.
