kaupÄ«nÄcchÄdanaá¹ param
tyaktaá¹ na daṇá¸a-pÄtrÄbhyÄm
anyat kiñcid anÄpadi

 bibhá¹›yÄt - would wear; cet - if; muniḥ - the sannyÄsÄ«; vÄsaḥ - clothes; kaupÄ«na - the thick belt and underwear worn by saintly persons; ÄcchÄdanam - covering; param - other; tyaktam - given up; na - never; daṇá¸a - besides his staff; pÄtrÄbhyÄm - and waterpot; anyat - else; kiñcit - anything; anÄpadi - when there is no emergency.

If the sannyÄsÄ« desires to wear something besides a mere kaupÄ«na, he may use another cloth around his waist and hips to cover the kaupÄ«na. Otherwise, if there is no emergency, he should not accept anything besides his daṇá¸a and waterpot.

A sannyÄsÄ« attracted to material possessions will spoil his worship of Lord Kṛṣṇa.
