śrī-śuka uvāca
kṛṣṇasyāsīd dvija-śreṣṭhaḥ
śrutadeva iti śrutaḥ
kṛṣṇaika-bhaktyā pūrṇārthaḥ
śāntaḥ kavir alampataḥ

 Ĺ›rÄŤ-śukaḼ uvāca - ŚrÄŤ Śukadeva said; kṛṣṇasya - of Lord Kṛṣṇa; ÄsÄŤt - there was; dvija - of brāhmaṇas; Ĺ›reᚣᚭhaḼ - one of the best; Ĺ›rutadevaḼ - Śrutadeva; iti - thus; Ĺ›rutaḼ - known; kṛṣṇa - to Lord Kṛṣṇa; eka - exclusive; bhaktyā - by his devotion; pĹŤrṇa - full; arthaḼ - in all goals of desire; Ĺ›ÄntaḼ - peaceful; kaviḼ - learned and discriminating; alampaáš­aḼ - not desirous of sense gratification.

Śukadeva Gosvāmī continued: There was a devotee of Kṛṣṇa’s known as Śrutadeva, who was a first-class brāhmaṇa. Perfectly satisfied by rendering unalloyed devotional service to Lord Kṛṣṇa, he was peaceful, learned and free from sense gratification.
