yasya - whose; amÅ›a - of the expansion; amÅ›a - of the expansion; amÅ›a - of the expansion; bhÄgena - by a part; viÅ›va - of the universe; utpatti - the generation; laya - dissolution; udayÄḥ - and prosperity; bhavanti - arise; kila - indeed; viÅ›va-Ätman - O Soul of all that be; tat - to Him; tvÄ - Yourself; adya - today; aham - I; gatim - for shelter; gatÄ - come.
O Soul of all that be, the creation, maintenance and destruction of the universe are all carried out by a fraction of an expansion of an expansion of Your expansion. Today I have come to take shelter of You, the Supreme Lord.
ÅšrÄ«la ÅšrÄ«dhara SvÄmÄ« explains this verse as follows: The Lord of Vaikuṇá¹ha, NÄrÄyaṇa, is but one expansion of ÅšrÄ« Kṛṣṇa. MahÄ-Viṣṇu, the first creator, is Lord NÄrÄyaṇa’s expansion. The total material energy emanates from MahÄ-Viṣṇu’s glance, and of that total material energy the three modes of nature are divided portions. Thus it is ÅšrÄ« Kṛṣṇa, acting through His expansions, who generates, sustains and dissolves the universe.
