Å›rÄ«-Å›uka uvÄca
evaá¹ samprÄrthito vipraḥ
sva-cikīrṣitam eva tat
cakÄra nÄma-karaṇaá¹
gÅ«á¸ho rahasi bÄlayoḥ

 Å›rÄ«-Å›ukaḥ uvÄca - ÅšrÄ« Åšukadeva GosvÄmÄ« said; evam - in this way; samprÄrthitaḥ - being eagerly requested; vipraḥ - the brÄhmaṇa Gargamuni; sva-cikÄ«rá¹£itam eva - which he already desired to do and for which he had gone there; tat - that; cakÄra - performed; nÄma-karaṇam - the name-giving ceremony; gÅ«á¸haḥ - confidentially; rahasi - in a secluded place; bÄlayoḥ - of the two boys (Kṛṣṇa and BalarÄma).

Åšukadeva GosvÄmÄ« continued: Having thus been especially requested by Nanda MahÄrÄja to do that which he already desired to do, Garga Muni performed the name-giving ceremony for Kṛṣṇa and BalarÄma in a solitary place.
