sva-gandhenÄdhyavÄsayat
varuṇa - by Varuṇa, the demigod of the ocean; preá¹£itÄ - sent; devÄ« - divine; vÄruṇī - the VÄruṇī liquor; vá¹›ká¹£a - of a tree; koá¹arÄt - from the hollow; patantÄ« - flowing; tat - that; vanam - forest; sarvam - entire; sva - with its own; gandhena - aroma; adhyavÄsayat - made even more fragrant.
ÅšrÄ«la ÅšrÄ«dhara SvÄmÄ« explains that vÄruṇī is a liquor distilled from honey. ÅšrÄ«la ViÅ›vanÄtha CakravartÄ« adds that the goddess VÄruṇī, the daughter of Varuṇa, is the presiding deity of that particular divine liquor. The ÄcÄrya also quotes the following statement from ÅšrÄ« Hari-vaá¹Å›a: samÄ«paá¹ preá¹£itÄ pitrÄ varuṇena tavÄnagha. Here the goddess VÄruṇī says to Lord BalarÄma: “My father, Varuṇa, has sent me to You, O sinless one.â€
