rukmiṇaivam adhikṣipto
rÄjabhiÅ› copahÄsitaḥ
kruddhaḥ parigham udyamya
jaghne taá¹ ná¹›mṇa-saá¹sadi

 rukmiá¹‡Ä - by RukmÄ«; evam - in this manner; adhiká¹£iptaḥ - insulted; rÄjabhiḥ - by the kings; ca - and; upahÄsitaḥ - laughed at; kruddhaḥ - angered; parigham - His club; udyamya - raising; jaghne - He struck dead; tam - him; ná¹›mṇa-saá¹sadi - in the auspicious assembly.

Thus insulted by RukmÄ« and ridiculed by the kings, Lord BalarÄma was provoked to anger. In the midst of the auspicious wedding assembly, He raised His club and struck RukmÄ« dead.
