rÄmas tatrÄdade paṇam
taá¹ tu rukmy ajayat tatra
kÄliá¹…gaḥ prÄhasad balam
dantÄn sandarÅ›ayann uccair
nÄmṛṣyat tad dhalÄyudhaḥ
Å›atam - one hundred; sahasram - one thousand; ayatam - ten thousand; rÄmaḥ - Lord BalarÄma; tatra - in that (match); Ädade - accepted; paṇam - wager; tam - that; tu - but; rukmÄ« - RukmÄ«; ajayat - won; tatra - thereupon; kÄliá¹…gaḥ - the King of Kaliá¹…ga; prÄhasat - laughed loudly; balam - at Lord BalarÄma; dantÄn - his teeth; sandarÅ›ayan - showing; uccaiḥ - openly; na amṛṣyat - did not forgive; tat - this; hala-Äyudhaḥ - BalarÄma, the carrier of the plow weapon.
ÅšrÄ«la ViÅ›vanÄtha CakravartÄ« explains that the wagers consisted of gold coins. Lord BalarÄma inwardly became quite angry when He saw the gross offense of the King of Kaliá¹…ga.
