evaá¹ saurata-saá¹lÄpair
bhagavÄn jagad-īśvaraḥ
sva-rato ramayÄ reme
nara-lokaá¹ viá¸ambayan

 Å›rÄ«-Å›ukaḥ uvÄca - Åšukadeva GosvÄmÄ« said; evam - in this way; saurata - conjugal; saá¹lÄpaiḥ - by conversations; bhagavÄn - the Supreme Lord; jagat - of the universe; Ä«Å›varaḥ - the master; sva - in Himself; rataḥ - taking pleasure; ramayÄ - with RamÄ, the goddess of fortune (that is, with Queen Rukmiṇī); reme - He enjoyed; nara-lokam - the world of humans; viá¸ambayan - imitating.

Åšukadeva GosvÄmÄ« said: And so the self-satisfied Supreme Lord of the universe enjoyed with the goddess of fortune, engaging her in lovers’ talks and thus imitating the ways of human society.

Purport

The word viá¸ambayan means “imitating†and also “ridiculing.†The Lord acted like a husband of this world, but His pastimes are transcendental and expose the perverted nature of mundane activities aimed at bodily sense gratification.
